Webinar Description

This is an on-demand, encore presentation of a previously broadcast webinar. The price is discounted to reflect the time passed since it was live.

Lee L. Bishop, principal at Lee L. Bishop Law Offices, provides legal counsel and representation on product safety compliance and risk avoidance. His practice includes not only the management of recalls and representation of clients before CPSC, but also the design of internal business processes to avoid recalls and the training and oversight to ensure they work properly. Lee's perspective is from the viewpoint of a business, not a regulator - for 16 years he was the product safety lawyer for General Electric. Lee works with business leaders, inside and outside counsel, design engineers, and supply chain managers to recognize and manage product safety compliance risks.

Matthew R. Howsare, of counsel with Mintz Levin, focuses his practice on federal, state, and international product safety matters and related regulatory issues and litigation. He provides representation on compliance with product safety regulations, product safety incident reporting, imported products, recalls, civil penalty proceedings, investigations, and other regulatory and enforcement matters. From 2010 to 2013, he was CPSC chief of staff and before that was senior counsel to the chairman. Before joining CPSC, Matt practiced law in the area of product safety, as well as general, appellate, class action, and products liability litigation.

Eric L. Stone, principal at the Law Firm of Eric Stone, was head of the legal division of the CPSC compliance office, served 33 years at the agency and has worked as a product safety and regulatory attorney for over 35 years. He brings the insights of a former regulator to advising manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers on a range of safety regulatory issues. Eric provides guidance on compliance with rules, decisions about reporting defects or complying with other reporting requirements. He also offers assistance and represents firms in product recall negotiations, government investigations, and penalty actions.
